Goldman Sachs GS (news,
chart,
quote) - GS June implied volatility above average as traders focus on Markets not Paulson nomination
GS's chief executive Hank Paulson was nominated Treasury Secretary, succeeding John Snow. MLCO say's "we doubt Paulson would leave GS in anything but a position of great strength, and with Q2 ROE likely around 30%, and the firm's franchise leadership continue that condition seems met." GS June option implied volatility of 32 is above its 6-month average of 24. GS call option volume of 21,253 contracts compares to put volume of 7,309 contracts according to Track Data. Above average option implied volatility on heavy call volume suggests larger price risks.
